Animal Tales

BY MARK FISCHER

Animal Tales

Learning from your mistakes is an essential skill that most of us acquire the hard way. But this weekend, the Metro Theatre Company provides a crash course that shows us that to err is not only human, but elephant as well. Metro's new production Fables delivers timeless tall tales for little people and older folks alike — a bounty of merry morality plays with anthropomorphic animals and surprising snap endings. Witness a rat that pines to be an elephant, a pair of swans who claim dibs on a (live!) bear rug and a rascally robin ready to outwit two hungry dogs. Fables is performed at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (November 7 and 8) in the Mainstage Auditorium at Clayton High School (1 Mark Twain Circle, Clayton). Tickets are $8 to $12, and include hands-on activities and refreshments after the show. For more information call 314-997-6777 or visit www.metrotheatercompany.org.
