Last night, the business department for the Riverfront Times
staged its annual Iron Fork
chef competition. New this year was a bartending competition (photos on page 2.) The venue was the Marriott Hotel at St. Louis' Union Station, and in addition to the food-and-drink prep throwdown, more than 25 area restaurants offered their food for sampling. Four chefs -- Josh Galliano of Monarch; Bernard Foster, executive sous chef of the Hyatt at the Arch; Eric Kelly of Scape American Bistro; and Thomas Kent of Hwy 61 Roadhouse and Kitchen -- competed for a panel of judges for a Movado Watch valued at $1,200, from Vinciquerra Jewelers and a professional knife set valued at $1,000 by Bertarelli Cutlery.
