KFC's infamous, bun-less Double Down chicken sandwich is getting...a bun. The "Doublicious" debuts July 5. (Read Gut Check's taste test of the original Double D here.

Meanwhile, Taco Bell continues to think outside the bun. The chain has been test-marketing a breakfast menu, which will commence to go nationwide next year, reports Nation's Restaurant News.

It's not all bad news on the seafood front. Exhibit A: the Urban Assembly New York Harbor School, an NYC public school. New York Times reporter David Kamp writes that the campus on Governors Island boasts "a fin-fish and shellfish production lab, a large room dominated by a Wonka-esque network of tubing and tanks in which scallops, mussels, clams, horseshoe crabs and blackfish, among other indigenous harbor species, will be cultivated.

"There is also a marine-tech wood shop where students will build 21-foot sloops, and there will soon be an organic garden and an aquaponic freshwater system for farming tilapia; that is, for raising the fish symbiotically with plants."

Remember those sick-making Kellogg's cereals? The company recalled 28 million boxes of Apple Jacks, Corn Pops, Froot Loops and Honey Smacks owing to a "waxy" odor and attendant gastrointestinal distress. Kellogg now reports that "a thorough health-risk assessment with external experts in medicine, toxicology, public health, chemistry, and food safety" led to the conclusion that tainted packaging was, as had been suspected, the culprit.
