Good thing the big beef industry is rebounding from the recession. According to Forbes beef giant Cargill reports that sales are up as people return to restaurants after being broke for two years. "Consumers are returning to old habits," said Keith Blanks of Cargill. "They don't like to cook that much."
There's a good chance a Dallas food critic hasn't eaten any of that beef. Eater.com looks into the case of Dallas Morning News critic Leslie Brenner, who was busted for lifting a best-of barbecue joints list from Daniel Vaughn's blog, Full Custom Gospel BBQ. Brenner claimed she thought it would work because bloggers aren't "familiar with accepted journalistic practices." Apparently, neither is Brenner.
Had enough meat? Good thing there's a new Japanese robot that can pick perfect strawberries. The Los Angeles Times has video of the award-winning creation by Japan's Agricultural and Food Research Organization, which can detect ripe strawberries and harvest them, eliminating all that pesky human error.
