Tidbits from Market Grill, Pita Pit

- We learned a couple of weeks ago that Jonathan Olson would take over as chef
of Soulard's Market Grill (728 Lafayette Avenue; 314-436-7664)
.The restaurant debuted its new menu
last weekend, and you can now peruse it online. Dishes include a dry-aged rib eye, seared scallops with butternut-squash gnudi and a porchetta sandwich. As is his custom, Olson uses meat and produce from several Missouri and Illinois farms.
- We continue to wonder when Pita Pit
will open its first St. Louis location at 200 North Ninth Street downtown. When we drove past the location last week
, it certainly looked ready to go. Our attempts to contact the restaurant have been unsuccessful. However, the restaurant left a comment on its own Facebook page
yesterday to say that it is still waiting on a few city inspections.
