Ten Best Food Events This Weekend: November 11-13

Friday (November 11):

Mussel, Clam and Oyster Festival @ Broadway Oyster Bar Clamoring for seafood lately? Enjoy the likes of ten different mussel, clam and oyster specials along with BOB's regular menu. Market oyster prices are down which means $16.95 for a dozen, $9.95 for a half dozen and $10.95 for specialty oysters this weekend. Live music at 5 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Kegs for a Cause @ International Tap House In honor of Veterans Day, ITAP donates 100 percent of all Boulevard pilsner sales for the day to the USO. Go throw back brews at locations in Soulard and Chesterfield to support your nation's troops.

11-11-11 Celebration @ Vin de Set Rooftop Bar and Bistro Eleven is a promising number for many this year. The palindrome of a day that happens but once a century is a big cause for celebration for Paul Hamilton and the eight-year anniversary of his restaurant Eleven Eleven Mississippi. To celebrate, one of the Hamiltons' other restaurants, Vin de Set, hosts specials along with a special concert with Kevin Renick. 9 to 11:11 p.m.

Saturday (November 12):

Frieda's Produce University: Fresh Twist on Holiday Cooking @ Schnucks All Schnucks locations host this program to educate customers on how to give holiday cooking a fresh twist. Check out free tastings of fall items from produce staff throughout the day including Russian banana fingerling potatoes, Cipolline onions, Fuyu persimmons, jicama and more. Free. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Chili Cook-Off @ Pepper's Grill and Bar Have a chili recipe known to knock socks off? Sign up to be a contestant in a cook-off and have your chance to have your recipe featured on Pepper's menu. Call 314-352-9909 to sign up. Free. 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

All Mixed Up Opening Reception @ The Vino Gallery The latest exhibition features a variety of mixed media work from several local artists. Spanish winemaker Carmelo Santos of Castillo de Maetierra will also be on hand to discuss winemaking. Enjoy light appetizers while they last and special pricing on featured glasses of wine. Free. 6 to 9 p.m.

Sunday (November 13):

Eggs Benedict brunch @ La Dolce Via Enjoy an eggs benedict special the La Dolce Via way this Sunday with poached egg, ham, housemade hollandaise on a cheese scone and your choice of additional spinach or asparagus. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Edible Insects class @ The Butterfly House's Lopata Learning Lab The three-hour class includes samples of real cooked insects and a lesson in how insects are a common supplement to worldwide diets through a series of games. The cost is included in Butterfly House admission -- $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 3 to 12 and free for children ages 2 and under. 11 a.m to 2 p.m.

The Queen's Cuisine Sunday Afternoon Tea @ The Map Room Warm up with a traditional three-course afternoon tea including tasty, dainty finger sandwiches, fresh baked English scones with clotted cream and fruit preserves, an assortment of desserts including tiramisu and two pots of freshly brewed loose-leaf tea. $25 per person. Call 618-205-6188 to make reservations. Seatings are available from 1 to 3 p.m.

Inside Dharma Bake Sale Fundraiser @ Metropolitan Community Church Inside Dharma, a not-for-profit volunteer Buddhist prison and homeless outreach organization, holds its annual bake sale with live music, fire juggling, a traditional cake walk, gourmet cupcakes, fair trade coffee and more. Free admission. 6 to 9 p.m.
