Ten Best Food Events This Weekend: July 27-29

Friday (July 27):

Crab Festival @ Broadway Oyster Bar A variety of crab including soft-shell, Dungeness, Washington and blue make a special appearance along with a weekend-long live music schedule. Admission is free. Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28.

Intro to American Whiskey @ The Wine Merchant Ltd. Get to know American whiskey through six samplings. $35 per person. Call 314-863-6282 for reservations. 6 p.m.

Outdoor Film Series: Goldfinger @ St. Louis Art Museum This July film series wraps up with a classic. Bring your own picnic or hit up food trucks like Sarah's Meltdown, Summer Truck, and Zia's for eats. Free admission. 7 p.m.; 9 p.m. showtime.

Saturday (July 28):

Hooked on Rook in Slow-Mo @ Kitchen Conservatory Chefs Lou Rook of Annie Gunn's partners with sommeliar Glenn Bardgett to present dishes using local trout, pork and tomatoes paired with Missouri wine. $75 per person. Register through the Kitchen Conservatory web site. 1 to 4 p.m.

Midwest Belgian Beer Festival @ Perennial Artisan Ales Sample beers from 25 breweries as one of many events surrounding St. Louis Craft Beer Week. $35 per person. 3 to 7 p.m.

Scoops of Fun @ Magic House This family fun event features circus performances, button-making, face painting, and all-you-can-eat ice cream from Ben & Jerry's, Serendipity and Mr. C's Ice Cream Emporium. $20 per adult; $8 per child. 6 to 9 p.m.

Schlafly Gardenworks Summer Garden Social @ Schlafly Bottleworks Schlafly gardeners Jack and Nolan discuss summer and autumn garden topics. There will also be a "swap table" at the event, so bring excess seeds, plants, tools and anything else you'd like to share. Free. 7 p.m.

Benefit for Belleville Area Humane Society @ Margaritas Mexican Restaurant Margaritas Mexican Restaurant hosts the Brian Madrid Comedy Hypnosis Show with proceeds benefiting the Belleville Area Humane Society. $15. 8 p.m.

Sunday (July 29):

Jazzy Brunch @ Big Sky Cafe Wake up late for a two course brunch with options like peaches and cream pancakes, caesar salad, and bacon, egg and smoked gouda cheese melt. Enjoy it to the sounds of local jazz musician Dave Stone. $17. Call 314-962-5757 for reservations. 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Open Studios BBQ and Bike Tour Enjoy a tour of local artists' working spaces folowed by a barbecue with pulled pork from Pappy's Smokehouse. Free. 11 a.m.
