Friday (Jan. 11):

Nursery Crimes @ Bissell Mansion Restaurant & Dinner Theatre Catch dinner and a show with a spooky murder mystery based on nursery rhymes. The dinner menu includes appetizers of crab rangoon and toasted ravioli as well as entree options such as an 8-ounce New York strip and chicken parmesan, all washed down with two glasses of white wine, coffee or iced tea. $52.95 per person. Call 314-533-9830 for reservations. Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. through April 2013.

Saturday (Jan. 12):

KDHX Brunch Benefit @ Black Bear Bakery Enjoy a brunch of fresh baked bread and a variety of vegetarian-friendly offerings over live music by Wack-A-Doo. Twenty-five percent of every brunch purchase goes to support KDHX. $10 or $12 with a bottomless cup of coffee. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Cabin Fever @ Schlafly Bottleworks Grab a commemorative tasting glass and eighteen two-ounce samples of Schlafly Beers including the likes of India Brown Ale, Raspberry Coffee Stout and Tasmanian IPA. "Bonus beers" aged in barrels from Corsair Artisan Distillery to round out the experience. Tickets cost $25 in advance at Schlafly Bottleworks and Tap Room locations, or get them for $30 at the door. Noon to 4 p.m.

LaSalle Park Music Festival @ 4 Hands Brewing Company 4 Hands Brewery introduces two special release beers to celebrate its one year anniversary. Sip on "home" (a double red ale), and "no place like home" (home aged in cabernet wine barrels) while checking out twenty local music acts across three stages. Tickets cost $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Doors at noon.

Current Release Gallery Opening @ The Vino Gallery Check out the opening of a group art exhibit with a complimentary wine tasting and appetizers. By-the-glass specials are at the tasting bar. Admission is free. 6 to 9 p.m.

All That Jazz Variety Burlesque Supper Show @ The Jumpin' Jupiter Enjoy jazz dancing, cirque acts and burlesque over a dinner. A la carte entree offerings include beef tenderloin, lemon pepper chicken, parmesan-crusted tilapia and falafel. Tickets for the show cost $15 per person. Dinner cost is separate. Every Saturday through Feb. 23 at 6 p.m.

Late Night Club @ City Diner at the Fox City Diner debuts a weekly DJ spin to accompany a full bar and menu of food. This week, Mark C. and Reggie spin reggae and soul. Admission is free. 10:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Sunday (Jan. 13):

Tenth Anniversary Brunch Meal Deal @ Cafe Madeleine Celebrate ten years of weekly brunch service in the Piper Palm House, the oldest standing greenhouse west of the Mississippi River, with a special unlimited month-long meal deal. Buy one adult-priced brunch at the regular price of $22.75, and get one for $10. Call 314-575-5658 for reservations. Every Sunday in January from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bloody Mary Bar @ Cielo Head to the Four Seasons to drink up some Bloody Marys from a bottomless cup. Choose from a variety of liquors and garnishes. $10. Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mom Didn't Make Chicken Soup Like This! @ Kitchen Conservatory In this hands-on class, concoct from-scratch chicken stock and use it as a base to create classic chicken soup with homemade noodles, chicken gumbo soup, Vietnamese chicken pho and more. $55 per person. Register online via the Kitchen Conservatory website. 1 to 3:30 p.m.
