Ten Best Food Events This Weekend: Jan. 18-20

Third Fridays always bring a lot to the table. Embrace the unseasonably warm weather to come this weekend by heading out for some dining and libations. Read on for some tasty recommendations. Among them are Broadway Oyster Bar's Oyster and Crab Legs Festival, a couple of classes and the Loop Ice Carnival.

Friday (Jan. 18):

Third Friday Free Party @ Third Degree Glass Factory Enjoy glassblowing demos, art and fire spinning over Bailey's Coffee or hot chocolate and tapas plates including madeira mushroom ragu and crisp polenta. Admission is free. 6 to 10 p.m.

Around the World Wine Dinner @ Missouri Botanical Garden This month's four-course meal with complementary wine pairings revolves around the theme of France: the Loire Valley. Menu items include venison stew, duck rillettes and warm bittersweet chocolate cake. $58 per person. Call 314-577-0200 for reservations. 6:30 p.m.

One Year Anniversary Weekend @ Hamburger Mary's Enjoy a burger over live entertainment from drag superstar Lady Bunny. Admission is free; preferred seating is available for $10. Friday, Jan. 18 and Saturday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m.

Oyster and Crab Leg Festival @ Broadway Oyster Bar Select from a special menu that includes oyster stew, oyster pot pie, king crab and more. Friday, Jan. 18 and Saturday, Jan. 19.

Saturday (Jan. 19):

Delmar Loop Ice Carnival @ Delmar Loop Warm up with the likes of s'mores and hot chocolate and visit some area restaurants. Explore some more to see sculptures, slides, sled dogs and other silly stuff to prove that cold times can indeed be fun. Admission is free. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Counter-Culture: Counter Intelligence @ Kitchen Conservatory Watch as KC staff demonstrate the preparations for an elegant five-course dinner with accompanying wine pairings. Sample fruit-braised short ribs on toasted farro salad, curried parsnip-apple soup and more. $75 per person. Register online via the Kitchen Conservatory website. 6 to 9 p.m.
