On Monday, May 13, The Wine Merchant, Ltd. (20 S. Hanley Road, Clayton; 314-863-6282) is hosting a special champagne class where guests can learn all about the beloved bubbly brew. The class will be lead by guest instructor Clint Sloan, who was recently named one of the top sommeliers in the country by Food & Wine.
In preparation for the class, The Wine Merchant will be pouring L. Aubry Brut Premier Cru Tradition this evening, so stop by for a sneak preview!
The Wine Merchant has this to say about the Aubry champagne:
"The NV Brut Premier Cru is a gorgeous wine, and a great introduction to the house style. Lemon, white flowers, mint, crushed rocks are some of the many notes that take shape in the glass as this refined Champagne shows off its impeccable class and total pedigree. The Premier Cru is 45% Pinot Meunier, 25% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay and 5% Arbanne, Petit Meslier and Fromenteau. The high percentage of red grapes is felt in the wine's breadth, while the aromas and flavors remain fresh, vibrant and beautifully nuanced throughout."
Monday evening's tasting will feature this and five other champagnes, which Sloan will discuss. It's a great opportunity to learn all about the drink usually reserved for celebrations or festivities. Champagne with dinner? We think it could totally be a thing.
