There are festivals galore this weekend, and luckily, a few of them involve alcohol. iTap's fifth anniversary week is still going strong, and Schlafly's annual Cod and Cask festival begins Friday. You can relax with the new Sunday brunch at Gamlin Whiskey House or raise money for the arts at Opera Theatre of St. Louis. Take your pick! Check out our food-related recommendations after the jump.
Friday (February 7):
Sip on cask-conditioned ales and feast on beer-battered Icelandic cod and chips to your heart's content. Enjoy live music on Friday from the Red Headed Strangers and the Trophy Mules on Saturday. Admission is free. Friday, 5 p.m. to midnight and Saturday, 11 a.m. to midnight.
They had us at comfort food. Broadway Oyster Bar's regular menu will be available, too, but how can you pass up Southern fried chicken, Cajun meatloaf and chicken and dumplings? There will be live music both days, featuring Greg Silsby, Aaron Kamm and the One Drops, All Roostered Up and Steven Roth Band. Check out the full festival menu here. Admission is free. Firkin is just another word for cask -- and there will be plenty on hand. Starting at 4 p.m., enjoy firkins from 2nd Shift, 4 Hands, Left Hand, New Holland, and Dragon's Milk. Admission is free.
Saturday (February 8):
The annual fundraiser features wines and microbrews from Grey Eagle Distributors and hors d'oeuvres from St. Louis Originals restaurants in the opera's rehearsal hall. There is also a silent auction, raffles and more. Proceeds benefit the opera's professional development program for emerging artists. Tickets are $85 per person, available here. From 6 to 8 p.m.
Due to the high demand of Indian dishes at Chaumette's restaurant, there will be a pop-up Indian restaurant in the barrel room every Saturday in February and March. You'll get a selection of 16 vegetarian and meat options with white basmati rice, crispy samosas, breads and chutney, and curries in spice levels from one to five. Check out the full menu here.
