Looks like the county is following the example of Lafayette Square: Specialty grocer Lucky's Market (15830 Fountain Plaza Drive; 303-530-0782) is set to open Wednesday, July 30, with a slew of events. Fields Foods (1500 Lafayette Avenue; 314-241-3276) opened last year in Lafayette Square; both markets focus on locally grown produce and organic and natural products.
Lucky's opens Wednesday, July 30, at 7 a.m. The "bacon-cutting ceremony" (we can only hope they mean actual bacon) is at 10 a.m., featuring live music and the presentation of two checks to the Assistance League of St. Louis and the Wildwood YMCA Children's Learning Program.
The grand-opening party is Saturday, August 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can get $1 housemade brats, $1 hot dogs and $1 sodas while enjoying live music from the Flea Bitten Dogs, plus face painting and vendor demos throughout the store. The next day is a local food fest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with local vendors offering samples and more face painting.
There are also three "5 percent" days in August: On Tuesday, August 12, 5 percent of the day's sales will go to the Howard Park Center; on Tuesday, August 19, it goes to Ellisville Elementary; and on Tuesday, August 26, it goes to Crestview Middle School. Plus, if you bring your own bag to Lucky's, you can either get a ten-cent credit toward your purchase or donate it to Gateway Greening, Livewell STL or Trailnet.
You can find more information on the Lucky's Ellisville Facebook page.
