Every week we publish an interview with a St. Louis chef called "Chef Chat." We've noticed something a little funny, though -- it seems that after we post said chat, the chef ends up leaving for a different restaurant. This Tuesday, we put up an interview with Bob Brazell, the chef at Athlete Eats (2837 Cherokee Street; 314-932-5566). And guess what? He's leaving the restaurant.
Athlete Eats opened on Cherokee Street in January, from Cardinals nutritionist Simon Lusky and his wife Angelica. Brazell, a friend of the Luskys, created clean, low-carb, high-energy foods as the restaurant's executive chef.
"We just decided to go our separate ways," Angelica Lusky tells Gut Check. "We wish him the best -- it was mutual." Lusky says Athlete Eats is currently looking for a replacement and is interviewing potential executive chefs.
"We're good. We're just trying to take it day by day right now, because there's a lot going on and we want to make sure we do it right," she says.
