Red Door (217 North Seventh Street; 314-231-2867) has been quietly serving a Chinese buffet downtown for the past year, but it's now looking to fill a neighborhood void: It's open every night but Monday, and looks to bring in every kind of person. Co-owner William Bielefeldt tells us why downtown is lacking in diversity and how Red Door aims to fix it.

"We're inviting diversity into downtown. We are a place that anyone should be welcome," Bielefeldt says. "We are gearing a night for every genre, race, background -- we saw that was one thing the downtown area lacked."

Red Door's signature drink is the scorpion bowl, a shareable cocktail that comes in a huge cup (if you can even call it that) and has fifteen different liquors and several straws.

Tuesdays will be industry night, Wednesday is ladies' and college night, Thursdays will be LGBT night, Fridays will feature live music, Saturday is "regeneration" night (the DJ will play '70s, '80s, '90s and 2000s music), and Sunday features tailgating parties during the day and karaoke at night.

Doors open at 10 p.m. and stay open until 3 a.m. and there's no cover change. Catch up with Red Door on Facebook, and check out some of the food here:
