O'Connell's Pub

4652 Shaw Ave.
St. Louis, MO 63110
314-773-6600
Website
A St. Louis institution since the Gaslight Square days, O’Connell’s hasn’t changed much over the years -- in fact, since moving to its current location at Kingshighway and I-44 in the early 1970s, it seems not to have changed at all. In O’Connell’s case, though, that’s a good thing. The pub environs are evocatively cluttered and dim, the hamburgers legendary, and rightly so. But before you reflexively put in that burger-and-requisite-side-of-fried-mushrooms order, take a moment to reacquaint yourself with the single (and never-changing, of course) daily special. We know some people who’d journey 1,000 miles just for the rib tips on a Saturday.

The Inside Word on O'Connell's Pub

This place is one of the best hangs in the city. Unpredictable and eccentric.

I started goting to O'c's in the mid 60's and have never look back. Their Lodon boil is deelisch, the chili dog just won't stop and the atmosphere is folksy, just the way that Jack Parker the owner is pure down home and elgant all in the same breadth! The dart games were always a rukcus and fun, the Irish tunes altho colloquial were in keeping with the atmosphere. What I lovedmost about this place was the fact that at any given moment, you could walk in plop down at the bar and it would always be a toss up as to whether you were sitting next to the Mayor, or the leader of the local motorcycle club... The waitresses were always vying for"saltiness" ( In know I wasone and the cooks were always in a frenzy stirring, fryin' and sauting... there ya have it my pick for the #1 resturant and a walk down memory lane!
