The Gumbo Shop - Closed

9501 Manchester Road Rock Hill, MO 63119 | Webster Groves | 314-918-8747

Location Description:

Arguably the very best Creole and Cajun fare around, the food at the Gumbo Shop tastes like spicy love. Hubby-and-wife owners Sid and Mary Roberts imported their own family recipes straight up the Mississip from bayou country (the vanity plate on Mary's car actually reads "BAYOU1"), and their takes on jambalaya, fried oysters, blackened catfish, red beans and rice and bread pudding are just heavenly. (The crawfish étouffèe leaves one particularly speechless.) This humble strip-mall storefront is a secret well-guarded by loyal customers who don't want to see the place spoiled -- and to be sure, this is a joint best appreciated by true bayou-food aficionados.
