With its strong vinegar tang, Smokin’ Al’s signature Wolf Sauce differs from your average St. Louis blend. The heat, though definite, is gentle. (Ask for the Pup Sauce if you prefer sweet to hot.) Meats — pork ribs, pulled pork, snoots, beef brisket, chicken — are smoked over cherry wood. Be sure to check the sign outside to see whether turkey or another special is available. Smokin’ Al’s can cater for up to 50 people with same-day notice, and the restaurant features a drive-through window.
