DRAMATIC RE-ENACTMENT OF A RECENTLY-RECEIVED E-MAIL (Names and wording changed to protect the insistent):

Dear Sir,

Why is it the RFT never mentions Tone Rodent shows? Ringo Deathstarr is a buzz band across the country right now. Once again people are working hard to bring a great band to town and nothing is said! The listing doesn't even mention the full lineup. What do we need to do to get the attention of the RFT music staff?

Thank You! Nika M. Stawd

Dear Nika,

First, a sincere and helpful answer. Now, some light-hearted smartassery: Our apologies! Admittedly, our coverage of Tone Rodent has been lacking (link, link, link, link, link, link, link, link, link, link, link, link), but in the future we will do our best to make sure to keep an eye out for the things that band is up to. Thank you for bringing this to the attention of the staff! Now, on to the show post.

You guys: TONE RODENT IS PLAYING A SHOW THIS WEEKEND!! The rest of our picks follow.

Friday:

Del McCoury Band @ Old Rock House w/ The Bluegrass Ball, The Hillbenders, The Hatrick, Elemental Shakedown, Old Salt Union 8:00 p.m. | $22 The tropical storm-delayed bluegrass festival has its rain date tonight, and the biggest names are back. (KM)

Stars @ Plush 10:00 p.m. | $17 Our neighbors to the North got themselves a hell of an enchanting voice in Amy Millan, and the lush, dreamy instrumentation employed by Stars makes for some damn pleasant indie-pop. (DH)

Saturday:

Louis C.K. @ The Fox Theatre 8:30 p.m. & 10:30 p.m. | $45 The nihilistic comedy of Louis C.K. is taking over the world. See the tireless (not to mention hilarious) performer at one of two shows this Saturday. (DH)

Grovefest 2012 @ Manchester Street from Tower Grove to to Gibson Ave w/ Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and many more 2:00 p.m. | Free In the interest of full disclosure, I'm doing a DJ set at this thing. But trust me when I say I'm the least interesting thing happening at Grovefest, which features a strong, diverse local lineup and a headlining set from buzz-saw survivor Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. (KM)

The Drive: Hip Hop / Voter Registration Party @ 2720 Cherokee w/ Tef Poe, Vandalyzm 9:00 p.m. | $10 If the debates were as passionate (and fun) as this show, we wouldn't have anyone left to register. (KM)
