Stag Nite, the weekly south-city shindig that pairs $1 Stag beers with $5 admission to catch some of St. Louis' finest bands, is moving yet again.

Magee's, Off Broadway, the Wedge, El Leñador, the Crack Fox, and most recently Blank Space have all played home to the beloved local event over its ten-year run. Earlier this summer, it even migrated to the woods for an all-day festival. According to Stag Nite founder/caretaker Johnny Vegas, "Stag Nite is an organic creature that needs to move every year or so, usually before my curse shuts down a place." Coming at you, Livery Company!

Vegas made the announcement on his Facebook page:

So...now I can announce that starting on Wed Sept 4th, Stag Nite will be moving to its new home at the Livery Company with Arson for Candy and others playing the first nite it it's new home. I will still be working with Blank Space and prolly ever other place on cherokee street that sells booze. Thanks to Blank Space and Kaveh for giving us a home for the last year!

The last Stag Nite at Blank Space takes place tonight, an open-mic affair hosted by Fred Friction. Anyone can come and perform, but Vegas has some rules:

1. No bongos. 2. No "Dead Flowers." 3. No "Wagon Wheel." 4. No poetry. 5. No "Every Rose Has its Thorn." 6. No Jimmy Buffet except "Come Monday." 7. No medleys counted as one song.

"These rules are made to protect us from prosecution from hurting the offenders; you should respect them out of your own personal safety."

Word to the wise: Fire up a Johnny Cash cover and wait for Vegas to come to the stage. You are in for a treat.
