If you're undergoing a rap-deficiency and you need a little pep in your step, look no further: This month has a lot in store for St. Louis hip-hop heads. Rather than bringing a lot of huge, national acts to the big venues, November seems to be sticking to small, intimate spaces. From Chicago's Palmer Squares to the dirty south's Rittz to St. Louis natives Mathias & the Pirates, we've got a full spectrum of hip-hop for you to choose from.

The Palmer Squares with Mathias & The Pirates, Baytron and Paul Martin at the Demo November 8 8:30 p.m. / $8

Sometimes white boys can't rap, but the Palmer Squares deliver, with satirical raps and a silly demeanor reminiscent of the Beastie Boys or Macklemore. Acumental and Terminal Knowledge's lively, spirited delivery will be sure to get your head bobbing as they tell you that your mixtape sucks and about how they yakked on a Rosario Dawson look-alike's shoes.

Arrive on time to catch FarFetched's Mathias & The Pirates, a quartet of skillful rappers and musicians -- Mathias James, Ms. Vizion, DJ LB and Grover Stewart -- who merge their voices together to create one cohesive sound, which they sometimes like to call "pirate music." The group's newest album, Life of the Buzzard, is great for your ears, linking potent bars with powerful lyrics and live instrumentation.
