The 2014 SLUMFEST Hip Hop Awards w/ Bates, Jonezy, Farout, Riley B, Darris Robins, Legend C4mp, Nato Caliph, Bo Dean & Domino Effect, Doorway, Allen Gates @ Plush 7 p.m. | $7-$10 Year after year S.L.U.M. Fest showcases the very best in St. Louis' underground hip-hop scene. Show up and catch performances by some of the best rappers in the STL game. (DH)
FarFetched Presents: Prologue III Release Party w/ Thelonius Kryptonite, Hubble, Mathias & the Pirates, 18andCounting, SNS, HearskraZ, Black James, Abnormal, Scrub @ 2720 Cherokee 8 p.m. | $3-$5 The album is seriously good -- genre lines are blurred and creative boundaries are pushed. The latest from one of the most exciting groups in St. Louis music. (DH)
Lamar Harris @ Kranzberg Arts Center 7:30 p.m. | $12 Lamar Harris, the 2013 RFT Music Award winner in the jazz category, riffs off of the sampling of jazz in hip hop music by experimenting with the inverse. In this show, he deconstructs the songs of Jay-Z into a jazz suite, featuring musicians Mark Harris and the People's Key. (MS)
Spooky Action Space Captain w/ The Pat Sajak Assassins, Kites @ Cafe Ventana 7 p.m. | $5 Come for this show, stay for the one that follows: CC Murder Dogs, Bearer and Ruz round out the night in hardcore punk fashion -- bring your slammin' shoes. (DH)
Tiltwheel w/ Ultraman, Ded Bugs, Spruce Bringsteen, Rad Company, Breakmouth Annie, Horror Section, The Scam, The Turkletons, Deth Warrant, The Timmys, Guy Morgan, The Cuban Missiles, The Winchester @ Fubar 6 p.m. | $12-$30 This annual punk fest goes strong into the weekend, with shows at Fubar on Friday and Saturday. For even more fun on Saturday, check out an afternoon barbecue at Silver Ballroom with acoustic performances and an after-party at Lemmons with the Supermen and the Haddonfields. (MS)
