The 10 Best Concerts in St. Louis This Weekend: August 22 to 24

This weekend, support some great shows for even greater causes -- a Michael Brown benefit show jam-packed with local talent takes over Plush, and a Clash tribute show to benefit Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy graces the stage at Off Broadway. Locals Blank Generation and Edgefield C. Johnston also drop new releases at Schlafly Tap Room. Read on for plenty more concert-going alternatives in our recommendations.

Friday (August 22):

MC Frontalot w/ Dr Awkward, Corn Mo @ Fubar 7 p.m. | $14 Self-described "world's 579th greatest rapper" MC Frontalot is the king of nerd-core hip-hop. Fans of MC Chris take note. (DH)

Nikki Hill @ Beale on Broadway 8 p.m. | $7 The STL native's star continues to rise nationally, and her local stops are few and far between. Don't miss the opportunity to catch a true talent in her hometown. (DH)

Edgefield C. Johnston CD Release w/ Carriage House, Ardor Glowing @ Schlafly Tap Room 9 p.m. | free Singer-songwriter Edgefield C. Johnston officially releases his album Ghost Town Boogie: The Songs of John Joseph Scum etc​.​, Vol. I, featuring Americana and lo-fi, garage-rock tinged songs. Click the link for a preview. (MS)

El Monstero @ Art Hill 7 p.m. | $30-$40 El Monstero, the self-proclaimed "definitive Pink Floyd tribute experience" promises to make a memorable night in Forest Park -- commemorative t-shirts are already hot off the presses! If you're not sure what's in store, see it for yourself. (MS)

RFT Q & Brew in the Lou w/ Old Capital Square Dance Club, Dance Floor Riot @ St. Louis Union Station 4 p.m. | $30-$60 This barbecue and brew event sold out earlier this week, but stand outside for free sounds and smells -- maybe a ticketholder will pity you enough to save you some scraps. (MS)
