Not that there is anything wrong with that! Out Traveler
, the tourist guide with a queer eye, recently ranked Columbia
as No. 8 in its listing of the ten most gay-friendly college towns in the central United States.
The magazine noted that despite the 2004 murder of gay activist Jesse
, Columbia has one of the most bustling same-sex
communities in Missouri. Meanwhile, the university's LGBT Resource
Center is one of the busiest in the country.
Lawrence, Kansas -- home of "Gay U" err KU -- beat out rival Columbia
with a seventh-place ranking. No word on how Moline, Illinois
ranked in the contest.
Here's the full list of the Top Ten.
