The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reports this morning that three people died from gunshot wounds in the city last night. Two of the deaths -- involving the murder of a downtown St. Louis bartender -- may be related.
Police say that around 11:45 p.m. last night a white male bartender in his early 30s was shot during a robbery attempt at Maggie O'Brien's
, at 20th
& Market streets (just a block up the street from the scene of a grisly, triple homicide
last month.)View Larger Map
The victim was taken to a hospital where he died around 2:30 a.m. The
suspect description is vague -- two black males wearing white shirts. No suspects are in custody, but police believe there may be a tie to that killing and another death moments later.
Just a few minutes after the shooting and attempted robbery at Maggie
O'Brien's, a black male showed up at an area hospital with a bullet wound to the chest. He was rushed into surgery but died
around 2:30 a.m. The gunshot victim had been dropped off at the hospital by
another black male who immediately fled the hospital after telling hospital
personnel that his friend was shot. That man has not been located and his
identity as well as the identity of the male who died are so far unknown.
The police are investigating the possibility that these two black males, (one of
whom again, is now deceased), are the suspects in the shooting at Maggie O'Brien's,
but that remains to be determined.
The third homicide of the night occurred in the 5500 block of Labadie Avenue near the intersection of Belt Avenue in north St. Louis. View Larger Map
