When Pujols' Nike signature sneaker hits shelves on February 10, boutique sneaker shop R~Sole will have about a dozen pairs for sale as part of a two-pair package-deal, says manager Joe Wilson. (The other pair of shoes is a 20-year reissue of Bo Jackson's 1990 sneaker.)
But unlike Kanye, whose Air Yeezys
were released nationwide over the summer, Pujols just doesn't have the street cred of the musician or Michael Jordan, whose clout continues to this day: the reissue of Jordan's "Space Jam" sneakers in December caused a riot in Atlanta
and long lines here in St. Louis.

"There hasn't really been a vibe (for Pujols)," Wilson says by phone from R~Sole. "I'm a Pujols fan personally, but he's not Kanye West. He doesn't have the same street cred as Kany West. In St. Louis he' does, but in the sneakerhead world
Wilson says his store might be the only location with the pack on sale, but a manager at Prime Sole in Florissant
said there's a good chance the Pujols shoe would also be for sale there.
The Pujols signature shoes have "AP Knows" sewn on the back heel, while the Bo Jackson pair state: "Bo 34 Knows," says Wilson -- who couldn't officially say how much the pack will set a buyer back.
The package-deal is known as the Nike Trainer SC 2010 Pack
, and it already has a "Buy It Now" price of $475
on eBay. The pack also comes with a pair of socks.
For those without the scratch, Wilson says there might also be T-shirts for sale.
Albert Pujols has hometown appeal, but when it comes to the sneaker game, he's no Kanye West or Michael Jordan.
