as one commenter suggested when we wrote yesterday about fellatio
and the right-wing blogger Jim Hoft
of Gateway Pundit
, but it seems Hoft has really, um, swallowed a whopper.
Posts Hoft wrote Tuesday
have caused all kinds of fury in the conservative realms of the blogosphere. The posts have to deal with a possible limit on commercial fishing proposed by the Obama administration. But that's not how Hoft sees it.
He views the regulation as an offense on personal liberties that will eventually keep fathers and sons from fishing for bluegill in the neighborhood pond. (The argument follows the NRA mantra, "If you give them an inch, they'll take a mile.")
Writes Hoft today:
The Obama Administration is pushing full steam ahead with their plan to
fundamentally change America. When the radicals are not pushing to socialize
health care, offer amnesty
to illegal aliens, or radicalize
primary school education, they're pushing
new UN-styled rules and regulations on the sport fishing industry.
Problems is that the ESPN article
on which Hoft and other right-wingers based their scholarly research,
was an opinion piece written by an angler with an axe to grind against
the Obama administration. Today ESPN admitted so much when an editor was forced to print a clarification
to the piece, stating that the "column was not properly balanced and failed to represent contrary points of view."
the Obama administration has repeatedly stated that sports fishermen
would be excluded from any new regulations on commercial fishing.
So, anyone else hear any good fish tales lately?Hat tip to Deadspin.
