to call attention from the cops? Then again, if you're a stupid criminal -- as seems to be the case of Devarick Thompson
-- you just can't help yourself. You're just plain dumb.
According to Pine Lawn police, Thompson, 28, was arrested Tuesday
at the Hanley/I-70 MetroLink station when one of its off-duty officers -- working a secondary security job for Metro -- noticed that Thompson hadn't paid his train fare. While questioning Thompson, officer James Conners, realized that Thompson looked a lot like the man whose mugshots adorn Pine Lawn's police station.
Thompson wouldn't tell Conners his name but did tell him that he lived on Ravenswood Avenue in Pine Lawn. That was enough for the off-duty cop to slap handcuffs on Thompson and arrest him for murder. A warrant for Thompson's arrest on first-degree murder charges has been out since July 30, some six weeks after Thompson allegedly shot to death Joey Richmond in a home on Ravenswood Avenue. Richmond was shot in the forehead and three times in the gut on June 16.
Later that day, Thompson's step-father, Edro Odum, allegedly murdered another neighborhood man -- Brian Brooks -- on suspicion that Brooks had ratted out his step-son
to police. Odum, 50, has confessed to that crime, say police.
Thompson, meanwhile, remains in custody with no trial date set yet for his murder case. One wonders if step-father and step-son can be cellys?
Don't you think that if you're wanted for murder you'd do everything you can
