A film shot in St. Louis -- and based in part on a 2005 Riverfront Times feature "Hell of a House" -- will debut next month at the Tivoli Theatre.
The Haunted Boy: The Secret Diary of the Exorcist tells the story of a 1949 exorcism involving Saint Louis University priests and a boy from suburban Washington D.C. believed to be possesses by the devil. Filmmakers (and brothers) Christopher and Phillip Booth filmed on location at several sites where the boy was treated during his St. Louis stay -- including a home in Bel Nor, the Saint Louis University campus and the old St. Vincent's asylum in north county.
A few years ago the Booth brothers interviewed me during their filming to ask me about the '05 story I penned on the exorcism for the RFT. I just got a screener of the DVD in the mail, and it looks like I ended up on the cutting room floor. Perhaps that's just as well. Below is a trailer for the film. The premiere October 21 will include a question-answer period with the filmmaking brothers. More info on that at thehauntedboy.com.
