The Missouri Senate committee on Jobs, Economic Development and Local Government is holding a hearing this afternoon
on legislation calling for the banning of red-light cameras in Missouri.
State senator Jim Lembke (R - St. Louis County) drafted similar legislation last year
that failed to become law. This year, Lembke's SB16
, which he pre-filed back in December, prohibits any municipality or state agency in Missouri from using red-light cameras.
State representative Paul Wieland
(R - Imperial) has introduced a nearly identical bill in the House (HB406
) that has yet to be scheduled for a hearing.
