cardboard-and-paste indigestion-inducing flatbread beloved, delectable hometown pizza was served up on a national platform over the weekend, via The New York Times Magazine. In an image shot by Ron Haviv and splashed across the mag's brand new photography section, the editors portrayed a high school student from Imperial doing a chin up during a Marine Corps recruitment event.
The student, 18-year-old Alexandrea Schmidt, held her chin-up position for 30 seconds, apparently longer than all but one other girl who participated.
And what gave her so much energy? Just look at her T-shirt.
We ran a search to see the last time Imo's gobbled up such prime Times exposure. Based on our search, the only other time the Gray Lady featured the pizza chain was back in 2007, when it was discovered that the man behind two high-profile kidnappings was a dispatcher for an Imo's outlet near his Kirkwood home.
How about a new Imo's campaign slogan celebrating amazing strength-inducing powers of Provel? Just like Marine boot camp (and digestive linings), what doesn't kill you can only make you stronger!
