Last week Jones was charged with forcible sodomy, burglary, theft, assault, resisting arrest and tampering with a motor vehicle after he allegedly forced his way into the home of an elderly couple in north St. Louis.
According to a probable cause statement
, Jones approached a caretaker for the couple outside their house on November 6 and forced the woman inside the home. Once there, Jones demanded money from the 50-year-old caretaker and hit her in the face. He then struck 92-year-old Arteria King in the head and face, breaking the victim's bones and his nose and knocking him to the ground.
After rifling through the house in search of jewelry, prosecutors say Jones cornered the caretaker and forced her to perform oral sex on him. He then stole her car keys and her Honda Accord and made his escape. St. Louis police pulled him over in the vehicle the next day, and he briefly tried to run before officers could make the arrest.
On Sunday the elderly man attacked in his home died as a result of the injuries sustained in the attack, leading prosecutors to add the murder charge. Jones, of the 1100 block of Goodfellow, is being held on $200,000 bond.
Police have a new accusation to add to laundry list of charges filed against 19-year-old Travon Jones: murder.
