...more messages were sent, the boy said, and this time the messages were sexual and "nasty" in nature. The messages asked personal details about the boy and taunted him for not answering. The boy saved those messages on his phone.
The boy also testified that he knew Turnbough through friends who had him as a fifth-grade teacher. He said his friends talked to Turnbough often when he was around but that he talked to Turnbough only on Facebook. It's unknown, obviously, whether the Facebook law (as it was written and enforced) could've prevented this episode. Turnbough was a teacher, but not the kid's teacher. How could any law enforcement body realistically keep teachers from befriending school-age children?
The boy said Turnbough initiated multiple conversations with him about TV shows and movies.
"I knew he was a teacher at the school, so I didn't think anything of it," the boy said of the Facebook conversations. "I thought he was just being friendly."[emphasis added]
