Integrity Village Is Shut Down and Larry Rice Arrested

Posted By on Thu, May 17, 2012 at 10:07 AM

As promised, St. Louis City issued a condemnation order for Rev. Larry Rice's Integrity Village late yesterday afternoon, and just after 6 p.m. the police arrived to clear the site. Given the option of packing up the tents and leaving the neighborhood voluntarily or being arrested, Rice chose arrest. He spent the night in jail with three other supporters. Homeless people at the site were transported to emergency shelters, and the tents were taken down.

The condemnation order was issued because the tent village had no occupancy permits, and the camp had health and safety issues. Rice faces a charge of occupying a condemned property, and according to, he was released from prison this morning. He now has a June court date on the charge.
