It's not clear exactly what happened in a Saturday afternoon shootout -- but after an investigation, St. Louis police say they have determined that a sixteen-year-old who sustained injuries had shot himself in the leg with his friend's gun.
No charges have been issued at this point.
Police say that a sixteen-year-old male, a sixteen-year-old female and a twenty-year-old female were standing on the 1000 block of Dillon Court, just south of downtown, when a Black Nissan stopped and fired multiple shots at them. It was about 4:30 p.m.
Police say that the vehicle continued west on Chouteau Avenue and was soon out of sight -- and victims later could not provide any further details on the suspect or suspect vehicle.
The two females were not injured, but the sixteen-year-old male was -- apparently, because he shot himself.
The incident report says, "Further investigation revealed [he] accidentally shot himself with his friend's gun."
He was taken to the hospital where he was in stable condition, police say.
