On Thursday night, a car crash in Wildwood left three teenagers dead and a fourth injured in a tragic incident just as the new school year is beginning. The Rockwood School District, as we reported on Friday, identified the three deceased as Lauren Oliver, an eighteen-year-old graduate of Eureka High School; her sister Kathleen Oliver, a seventeen-year-old senior at Eureka; and Christopher Lenzen, an eighteen-year-old graduate of Marquette High School.
Olivia Dames, an eighteen-year-old graduate of Eureka High, survived the crash and has since spoken up on Twitter about the terrible incident that claimed the life of three of her friends.
"Lucky to be here to spread the joy and love of the three most important people to me," she said in her first tweet after the accident. "I love my beautiful angels they truly saved my life."
Here are some screengrabs from Dames, who changed her Twitter bio to "My three beautiful angels how I love you so" after the incident:
And here are some heartbreaking final tweets from Lenzen who was reportedly two days away from heading off to University of Missouri at Columbia where he was planning on studying business. He would have been a freshman. Retweeted by Dames after the crash:
This tweet was apparently memorialized on Friday:
Here's a poignant old tweet from Lauren Oliver that Dames also retweeted after the crash:
And here's another tweet from Dames to Lenzen after the crash:
It's still unclear what exactly caused the crash, but police say Lenzen was the driver of the 2013 Infiniti G37S convertible and that the vehicle drove off of the road and ended up hitting a residence on Homestead Manor Drive in Wildwood. The two sisters were pronounced dead on the scene, police say, and Lenzen died a short while later.
