A late-night shooting near Laclede's Landing and the Gateway Arch left one man dead and another woman seriously injured over the weekend.

Police say that Desmond Adair, a 21-year-old male, was shot in the neck near Washington Avenue and 3rd Street at around 12:45 a.m. Saturday morning and died a short while later at the hospital.

A 23-year-old woman was hit in the arm and taken to the hospital in serious, but stable condition.

Police say the investigation revealed that the victims had been traveling in the area around the 400 block of Memorial Drive when unknown suspects in a dark-colored sedan began firing shots at them. The victims' vehicle struck a light pole during the incident, police say. The two apparently managed to get themselves to the hospital.
