Schwervon!'s Nan Turner and Matt Roth legendarily met at a New York City "antifolk" night, but there's very little that's folkish about the music they make together. With four albums under its belt, this bassless duo has perfected a joyous, no-nonsense sound that recalls such 1990s indie-rock bands as the Spinanes and Helium, with enough sweetness and vulnerability to have successfully opened for the Vaselines and Belle & Sebastian.
