In 1949, ski instructor Warren Miller formed Warren Miller Entertainment and began producing and directing feature-length skiing films, then touring them to cities around the country. In doing so he single-handedly created the ski film as a genre, a legacy he cemented by directing and producing a feature length ski-action documentary each and every year until 2004, when he left the company in the hands of his son.
