  • Ryan Franklin's New Beard Must Be Stopped

Okay, the time has come for someone to put their foot down, and that foot is me. Something has got to be done about that thing on Ryan Franklin's face.  I don't know what the fuck it is, or exactly what Franklin thought he was going for when he started trying to cultivate it, but this has gone too far. Franklin's beard, or whatever you want to call it, has reached a Little Shop of Horrors sort of status at this point. And I'm looking for a man with an axe to help me do what must b

  • Rick Ankiel Has Shaved His Mustache

Well, like many great surprises, it didn't last very long.It looks like the Cardinals' Rick Ankiel has shaved it off. You know, the mustache that garnered not one, but two, blog posts, and a couple thousand visits via Google. Seems more people were interested in it than one might've guessed. It's an all-around bummer, but at least there's still Jason La Rue's 'stache, back for another season in '09.After the jump, is a photo of the Dick 'Stache, for ol' time's sake.

  • Josh Kinney v2.0: Now 65% More Awesome

To this point in the 2009 season, the Cardinal bullpen has been one of the most consistent strengths for Tony La Russa's squad. The offense was brilliant early, then fell apart completely at the seams. The starting rotation has been mostly strong, but injuries and less than sterling performances from Todd Wellemeyer, as well as Adam Wainwright's struggles to find consistency, have led to the occasional adventure. But the relief pitching has been remarkably strong, even with the frustrations over

  • The American Mustache Institute Commissions a Tune

Our pals over at the American Mustache Institute just commissioned a tune to further spread the gospel of their mission. Please take a listen to and/or purchase "I Got A Mustache" from LA musician/producer Jamey Scott. Vocals contributed by Eddie Cunningham, pedal steel by JayDee Mayness. The song's twangy textures celebrate (what I imagine to be) the joy and pride that comes from sporting facial hair. Plus, it doesn't sound anything like the AMI's mortal enemy, Dave Navarro -- so the powers-tha

  • Institute Seeks Great Mustached Americans for Annual "Goulet Award"

The late singer and actor, Robert Goulet. The St. Louis-based American Mustache Institute is soliciting nominations for its second-annual Goulet Award -- an honor bestowed upon a mustachioed individual whose acts and reputation glorify upper-lip hair. Last year's award went to Tim Galvin, a former New York City cop who retired from service with three medals of valor (after being shot twice in the line of duty) and who has proudly sported a mustache for three decades. Among some of the people b

  • The 'Stache Bash 2009 Features John Oates

Daryl Hall (left) and John Oates (right). Seriously, that facial hair can totally fuck you up.A to Z's love and admiration for the credo and mission of the American Mustache Institute -- okay, okay, who are we kidding? We mean the AMI itself -- is well-documented here. But the lads behind the endeavor may have outdone themselves with this year's 'Stache Bash, its annual charity event. Because on Friday, October 30, at the Roberts Orpheum, none other than the '80s Mustachioed Marauder himself,

(More details on the party here.) You're also probably aware this year's event features the one and only John Oates, of '80s power-pop duo Hall and Oates, and a famous mustache-wearer in his own right.
