This is probably my favorite round-up of the year: The A.V. Club's list of funny, asinine, ridiculous, awesome or just plain terrible band names. The entire list is well worth perusing, but my favorites include the following sections:

Hooch & Daddy-O in their glory days.Oscar Madrid and Jim Ousley, the writers of fake-documentary-real-funny-film Hooch & Daddy-O, are not content to rest on their laurels. Because those laurels aren't for sitting on -- they're for building on. Madrid and Ousley now have plans for a comedy/horror film about a high school janitor who has a Chuck Norris obsession (and aren't we all guilty of that?) and an alien zombie infestation to deal with. Around 1:10 a.m. or so, MSTRKRFT dropped bits of Daft Punk's "Da Funk" into its DJ set. Talk about shocking news: John Hughes -- the movie director and screenwriter famous for his '80s teen movies -- died this morning of a heart attack. He was 59. Hughes' films -- especially the holy trinity of Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink -- were innovative in the way they used music as plot progressors. Legendary movie director John Hughes died yesterday. Hughes directed and/or wrote such classic films as Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. But my favorite remains Hughes' first bit hit, Sixteen Candles, in which the foreign-exchange student Long Duk Dong renders his "no more yankey my wankey" line. Got a favorite Sixteen Candles line of your own? Or another favorite quote from a John Hughes' film? Leave it in the comments section below
