  • East St. Louis duo Unladylike sign with VMG/Def Jam, Move to NYC

East St. Louis has never really had a hip-hop artist blow up nationally. Raw Resse, Beano, and Da Bangaz all had local club hits that led to record deals but little else--nothing on the level of Nelly, let alone 314 money-makers like Jibbs or Murphy Lee. The latest hope for the Eastside comes a pair of female emcees who call themselves Unladylike.   In November the pair, who go by the names Tee and Gunna, inked a record deal with Voicez, a recently created branch of Def Jam. • Daily RFT Twitter Follow Friday; Six Celebrities from STL on Twitter

Here are six nationally famous St. Louisians on Twitter. This list is very likely not complete by any means. Obvious omissions are sports celebrities who probably deserve their own list. The idea here is to stick with people who are known in the entertainment business. And there is one exception -- one who isn't actually in any business that anyone can confirm and doesn't really fit neatly into any category but is undeniably famous none-the-less. See if you can pick which person I'm talking abou

  • MP3: Mankey, "Put Me In Coach," from Streetballers Soundtrack

In this week's paper, Chad Garrison profiles director Matthew Krentz in honor of the premiere of his film, Streetballers. The locally made movie -- which is earning some serious national and regional buzz -- is premiering tonight at the Tivoli and Ronnie's. The movie's soundtrack is now available here -- and here's the first song leaked from it, from local rapper Mankey. This particular remix of "Put Me In Coach" features upstart Yung Ro, stalwart Murphy Lee and Ray the Kidd.MP3: Mankey, "P

  • Murphy Lee At Vintage Vinyl Tonight For a Toy Drive, DVD Signing

Murphy Lee of the St. Lunatics will be at Vintage Vinyl tonight from 5 to 9 p.m. Now, there's a lot going on in Murph's world surrounding this appearance: First, he's giving away a free CD on his website when you buy the DVD, U C Me, and he'll be signing copies at VV. But more important, this appearance functions as a toy drive. A press release I received says: Lee has teamed up with the Demetrius Johnson Charitable Foundation and Project ARK for the 1st Annual 'U C ME Giving Back' Toy
