Earlier this year, they did an uncover investigation on Ringling Brothers and posted some elephant-beating footage on the aptly named Web site, ringlingbrothersbeatsanimals.com.Well, the big top is coming to the Scottrade Center on October 15, so PETA filed a request to display their protest statue, "Ella Phantzperil," at the corner of Market and 15th street around that time. • Vegans Who Aren't Morrissey Also Love the Pageant

Todd OwyoungMorrissey's concert rider bans meat from whatever venue he happens to be playing that night, due to his staunch vegan status. (When he played the Pageant last year, the hot dog cart even had to take the night off!) We're not sure if that has anything to do with the following item, but who knows? Congratulations to the Pageant, which is one of five venues nominated for "Best Concert Venue" by peta2, the youth- and music-leaning animal rights arm of PETA. In the "Libby Awards" (

  • Imagine If You Will a Robotic Punxsutawney Phil on Groundhog Day

For the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, every day is Groundhog Day. This of course means that every day is a new day to summon yet another spasm of outrage and cite a further example of man's inhumanity -- to animals. On this particular Groundhog Day, PETA has outdone themselves, a difficult task indeed. Seems the always creative and ever outrageous animals rights group -- again, engaged in staging its own fascinating theater of rant -- is all fired up that o
