Photo: Nick SchnelleView more photos from the show last night. REVIEW BY MATTHEW JACKSON (View photos from the show last night.) Fall Out Boy's concert Wednesday night at the Pageant afforded many opportunities, but primary among them was the chance to answer, in one continuous sitting, that ancient question: What are the precise differences between prattle, drivel and patter? To compile a highlight reel of between-song chat, you would have experienced prattle about Bruce Wayne, patter ab

  • Rumor: Blink-182 May Not Perform in St. Louis on Thursday

Last night, pop-punks Blink-182 cancelled their show in Saratoga, New York, citing the death of DJ AM, a close friend of drummer Travis Barker. (Barker and AM survived a horrific plane crash last year.) Weezer, Taking Back Sunday and Chester French still played, however. A statement on Blink's website says: Due to circumstances surrounding the unfortunate and untimely passing of our dear friend Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein, blink-182 will not be playing tonight in Saratoga, NY at SPAC. Performanc

Turns out that the rumors of Blink 182 moving its St. Louis show originally scheduled for September 3 were true: LiveNation just sent out a press release announcing that the concert is now set for Tuesday, September 29. A statement included with it says: After much thought and consideration, Blink-182 has rescheduled their next two shows in order for Travis Barker to mourn the loss of his dear friend Adam Goldstein. Blink-182 will now play St. Louis, MO on September 29. All previously purchased

  • Show Review Photos: The Mars Volta at the Pageant, Tuesday, September 8

When the Mars Volta unleashed its 2002 debut EP, Tremulant, some critics cheekily tagged the band "Punk Floyd." Given that vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala and guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez cut their teeth in the castle-storming emo-core outfit At The Drive-In, it seemed natural that "punk" would the predominant word in their freshly hatched group's nickname. Wrong. Seven years later, the band's psychedelic and progressive tendencies -- lengthy jams, epic guitar solos, trippy vocal effects -

  • And the Blink 182 Openers in St. Louis on September 29 Are...

...Fall Out Boy and All-American Rejects. Not Taking Back Sunday and Weezer, who were the original openers before the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater show was moved to September 29. Refund information after the jump! Not on the bill is hip-hop act Asher "I Love College" Roth, who's been on some of these Blink tour dates. (I'm sure that will make some people very happy, because Roth is quite the polarizing figure -- people either love or loathe his frat-dude anthems.) Roth was here not that long ago

Annie ZaleskiHayley Williams of Paramore. Entire set here. By the second song of opening act Paper Route's set, it was clear that last night's Paramore show at the Pageant was going to be extremely loud and very in your face. The Nashville act (which is friends with the headliners) enveloped the near sellout crowd with its highly stylized blend of slick, ambient pop, echo-laden guitar effects work and danceable hooks. (Think Tears for Fears' studio-pop precision mixed with the spaced-out
