  • Photos: Sheryl Crow at Kiener Plaza for the All-Star Concert Announcement

The blanket of humidity over Kiener Plaza on Monday -- whose idea was it to have the press conference outside? -- didn't seem to deter the mood of media and baseball officials touting Sheryl's Crow's free concert planned for the All-Star Weekend. • Clarification on Elvis Costello's Role in Sheryl Crow's July 11 Show

I just got off the phone with a spokesman for Major League Baseball, and he clarified that Elvis Costello is not opening for Sheryl Crow next Saturday, July 11, nor is he doing an entirely separate set of his own material. He'll come out during the show and join her for some songs. In other words, he'll be a special guest. The show, which takes place under the Arch, is still starting at 8 p.m.

  • Kudos to ALIVE's Sheryl Crow Cover

Happened to read ALIVE magazine's cover story on Sheryl Crow last weekend, and I wanted to give kudos to writer Kelly Hamilton, who did a great job. The one-page article addresses motherhood, Crow's fight against cancer and charity work, as well as her Missouri/St. Louis roots (including the tidbit that after her first record, she moved back to the Central West End and had a band full of St. Louis musicians). The magazine's cover photo -- which features Crow with a bitching guitar -- was also re
