A Monster of A Night

Missouri Botanical Garden (4344 Shaw Boulevard; 314-577-5100 or www.mobot.org) is known as a serene place, one filled with beautiful botanicals and quiet corners just perfect for contemplation and reflection. Your biggest worry here might happen on Wednesday nights during the free Whitaker Music Festival concerts when you realize someone in your party has forgotten the corkscrew. That is to say that would've been your biggest concern — until now. On this very evening, the garden introduces roaring monsters into the mix with the DinoQuest Monster Movie Night. Be afraid, be very afraid, because Mothra and Gamera vs. Guiron will be shown back-to-back outdoors, under the stars. Will humongous Mothra's appearance onscreen trigger something in the normal-size moths that are flitting about? Will acrobatic turtle Gamera be able to save the children this time? And will any of the dinosaurs in the Climatron at the garden spring to life while you're distracted by what's on the screen? We dare you to pay $10 and find out! The garden is open tonight from 7 p.m. to midnight, and the campy, hilarious films begin at 8:30 p.m. Feel free to bring along a blanket or lawn chairs, and something to eat; snacks will also be available for purchase.
