A Pirate’s Life for You

Remember the eye patch your mom bought for you years ago, when it seemed like a good idea to go trick-or-treating as a pirate? Now is your chance to find that patch and dust it off (or buy a new one) because international Talk Like a Pirate Day has come around again! The City Museum (701 North 15th Street; 314-231-2489 or www.citymuseum.org) opens its doors for free to those decked out in full pirate regalia all day today (the museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and the institution-turned-pirate-ship also offers treasure hunts and more. In advance of the festivities, it wouldn’t hurt to brush up on your pirate-speak, which can easily be done at www.talklikeapirateday.com. Look, ye landlubbers and scurvy dogs, me 'n' ma parrot agree ´tis high time for ya ter weigh yer anchors and git to a-partyin’, yarr!
