An Electrifying Weekend

O mute, inscrutable Giant Silver Ball! How many smudgy hands have lain upon your crackling surface? How many trembling hairs have you stood on end? Literally zillions. But if you think that's all there is to the Magic House (516 South Kirkwood Road, Kirkwood), take advantage of its 30th birthday celebration for a free or reduced-price look at everything the children's museum has added over those three decades. Kid-size replicas of the Oval Office, Lewis & Clark's camp, a construction site and an entire town. Crazy oversize musical instruments; zones for playing with water, air, bubbles and sand. And of course, the Giant Silver Ball endures. Admission is free Friday through Sunday (October 16 to 18), with suggested donations that reflect 1979 admission prices ($1.50 to $2) going to support field trips for disadvantaged children. Call 314-822-8900 or visit www.magichouse.org for more information.
