Are You Going to Prom

The '80s are currently idealized as an era when Depeche Mode songs were on every radio (they weren't), all people spoke like Valley girls (they didn't), and everybody dressed like a star in a John Hughes movie. OK, that last one is actually somewhat accurate but not how you think. Every high school had its Benders and the occasional Duckie, but most people were rocking the Blane and Steff looks from Pretty in Pink: pastel Izod shirts with collars popped like they were on Viagra, those crappy little loafers, ugly sweaters and pleated pants tight-rolled to tourniquet-level tension. Throw the Phil Collins mullet on top, and you had a look that gave Reagan a hard-on. That '80s Club brings back those heinous days with the '80s Yuppie Prom. Dig out the Z. Cavariccis, shove up the sleeves on your blazer, and buy a case of Aqua Net, because the best approximation of that long-gone yuppie style wins $100 and the title of Prom King or Prom Queen. Prom takes place at Rue 13 (1311 Washington Avenue; www.that80sclub.us). Admission is $4 until 10 p.m., and after that it's $8.
