Amalgamating the perfect triad of live music, film and intellectual discussion, Washington University's Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum (One Brookings Drive, University City; 314-935-4523 or kemperartmuseum.wustl.edu) offers an evening of free fun for the general public with this month’s installation of Friday Nights at the Kemper
. Patricia Olynyk, director of graduate studies at the Sam Fox School, will offer insight into the contemporary art scene at 7 p.m. when she leads a gallery talk on the Kemper's recently unveiled 2012 MFA Thesis Exhibition. As a special treat for the musically inclined, local indie songbirds Scarlet Tanager will hit the stage at 8:30 pm, ushering in the summer with its breezey songs of love and nostalgia. To polish off the evening, plant your lawn chair in the Kemper's parking lot for a screening of Terry Zwigoff’s cult film adaptation of Daniel Clowes' Art School Confidential
at 10 p.m.
