Assault in Cairo

Prior to the mass mayhem of 2011, Cairo was incidental to most Americans' perception and understanding of the multifaceted, enormously complex Middle East. The teeming megalopolis was merely the capital of Egypt, a nation we've known as an ally even if we haven't known terribly much about it. But Cairo contains as many stories as it does residents -- and that's a lot of narratives. Tonight at 7:30 p.m., as part of the Webster University Film Series, take in some of those stories in Cairo 678. Mohamed Diab's drama involves three Cairene women from disparate backgrounds who share one common enemy: sexual harassment. Each one's life has been affected by it and nearly completely ruined by it. In response, the trio band together in strained solidarity to combat the scourge.
